UNM Foundation Appoints Deidre Sandvick as Senior Vice President for Development
Albuquerque, NM – The University of New Mexico Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Deidre Sandvick as the new Senior Vice President for Development. Sandvick brings over 25 years of progressive leadership experience in fundraising and development, with a proven track record in securing major and principal gifts within higher education.
For the past 16 years, Sandvick has been a key member of the University of Oregon's advancement team, where she served as Associate Vice President of Development. During her tenure, she oversaw the fundraising teams for all academic schools and colleges, two museums, and two centralized major gift teams, collectively managing an annual goal of $100 million. Sandvick played an instrumental role in the University of Oregon's $3.2 billion comprehensive campaign, leading multi-million-dollar fundraising initiatives. Sandvick's ability to collaborate effectively with academic leaders and advancement teams, her strategic approach to fundraising, and her commitment to fostering ambitious, inclusive, and respectful work environments make her an invaluable addition to the UNM Foundation.
In her new role, Sandvick will lead the Foundation's development teams, support the continued growth of UNM's philanthropic culture, and implement best practices to drive success. As UNM enters the fourth year of the quiet phase of its comprehensive campaign, Sandvick's leadership will be crucial in preparing for the public phase and achieving campaign goals. Sandvick will drive continued fundraising growth exceeding $100 million annually. She will oversee daily development operations, working closely with three vice presidents overseeing academic, health sciences, and central development while providing strategic leadership to enhance philanthropy at UNM.
"Deidre impressed everyone she met at the Foundation and within the University. She has demonstrated a strong ability to collaborate with our development leadership, team, and university leaders to accelerate philanthropy by advancing best practices and connecting our stakeholders' passions with the University's aspirations," said Jeffrey S. Todd, President and CEO of the UNM Foundation. "I am thrilled that Deidre is joining our team, and I look forward to working with her to continue building the culture of philanthropy at UNM."
The Foundation has undergone significant organizational evolution in recent years and is well-positioned to continue its momentum, supporting UNM's mission to advance education, research, and health.
Under Sandvick's leadership, the development team will elevate the culture of philanthropy, align fundraising strategies with institutional priorities, and foster meaningful engagement with donors, alumni, grateful patients, friends, and partners across the University and beyond.
